Mother Tongue Languages

Department Goals

To equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills and imbue them with values, attitudes and ethics.

To develop our pupils to be confident users of their Mother Tongue Languages and be passionate about these languages.

Approach

The Mother Tongue Languages Department aims to provide pupils with a holistic approach to the learning of the various Mother Tongue Languages and adopt core values. Our programmes seek to enable pupils to become confident and enthusiastic learners.

The Mother Tongue Languages Department designs differentiated instructions to cater to pupils with different abilities. Through various fun and engaging programmes, we promote authentic learning experiences for the pupils. ICT-infused lessons are incorporated into the curriculum to enhance pupils’ learning.

The Mother Tongue Languages Department organises programmes and events which are closely linked to Asian cultures to promote awareness and appreciation for pupils’ ethnic values and National Education, for example, the MTL Culture Camp and the MTL Fortnight.

Programmes

The Mother Tongue Languages Department organises fun and exciting activities for every pupil at each level to increase their exposure to Mother Tongue Languages. Through various approaches and learning programmes, we seek to develop pupils to be proficient in the usage and appreciation of the language, as well as to cultivate their love for the language.
